Invisalign®

Modern Orthodontic Solutions With Clear Aligners

At Magnolia Family Dental, we are proud to offer orthodontic services with Invisalign® clear aligners to help our patients straighten their smiles and address other orthodontic problems. This innovative treatment uses a system of customized plastic trays to gradually and precisely move the teeth into alignment. When compared to traditional braces treatment, it is fast, comfortable and available to patients of all ages, making it the perfect fit for any lifestyle.

How It Works

Invisalign® uses advanced digital technology for completely tailored and individualized treatment. First, we take a 3D scan of your teeth using our iTero Element™ scanner. This creates a digital impression of your mouth—no messy and uncomfortable impressions needed! Dr. Smith or Dr. Bittler then use this information to plan your treatment. Your aligners are also made of SmartTrack™ technology for efficient, fast movement as well as a more comfortable experience.

Why Fix Misalignment

Misaligned teeth can not only negatively impact on your oral health, but your body’s overall health as well. Aligned teeth are easier to clean, leading to less bacteria buildup and decreasing the risk of gum disease. Straightening the teeth can also help some people speak, eat and even breathe more easily, which can have a significant impact on quality of life.

Benefits Of Invisalign® In Midlothian, VA

In addition to misaligned teeth, clear aligners Invisalign® is a great way to fix a multitude of orthodontic and dental issues. At Magnolia Family Dental, Dr. Smith, Dr. Bittler and our team may recommend them to treat overbites, underbites, gaps in the teeth or more. Additionally, they are a popular choice over traditional wire braces or other orthodontic appliances for the following reasons:

Made of translucent material, the aligners blend in with your teeth. No one except you will be able to tell you are wearing them!

Though you’ll need to wear your aligners for around twenty-two hours a day, they should always be removed whenever you are cleaning them or eating or drinking anything other than water. They can also be removed when participating in sports, playing an instrument or when attending a special, formal occasion.

Due to its sleek, customized design and the lack of pesky wires and brackets, Invisalign® is remarkably more comfortable than traditional orthodontic appliances!

Unlike with braces, it is easy to keep up with your oral hygiene when using aligners. Nothing is in the way! Simply pop your aligners out when brushing or flossing your teeth.

Your aligners should always be removed before eating, but this means you can eat whatever you want! This includes crunchy and hard foods that are off-limits with traditional braces.

On average, Invisalign® is faster than braces, and some straightforward cases can be completed in as little as six months.

Tips For A Smooth Treatment

We make Invisalign® treatment as easy as possible for our patients, but it does require some compliance on the part of the patient. Since your trays are removable, you’ll need to consistently and diligently wear them in order for them to do their job. Every week or two, or as directed by our team, you will switch into your new trays to bring your teeth into the proper position. Each time you do this, you are one step close to your new smile. Other tips for success include:

  • Wear your Invisalign® as prescribed by Dr. Smith or Dr. Bittler—around 22 hours a day
  • Remove them before eating and drinking
  • Always keep them in their case

Caring For Your Invisalign®

Taking care of your Invisalign® and staying on top of your oral hygiene during your treatment is extremely important both to the health of your smile and to your results. Here are some ways we recommend taking care of your aligners:

  • Rinse your aligners with warm water and dry them after removing and before replacing them in your mouth
  • Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly when they are removed
  • Clean your aligners with Invisalign® brand cleaning crystals, or with a soft, clean toothbrush and gentle toothpaste
  • Avoid cleaning them with denture cleaner or mouthwash, which may cause staining
